01/08/01 Monday Nitro - Interview: Terry Funk
Funk proclaimed himself the "king of hardcore wrestling," saying Ric Flair was trying to bring him down by not booking him against the top stars. Crowbar came out and told Funk he idolized him, but Terry ruined it by beating on him at Starrcade. Crowbar said he would defeat Funk at WCW Sin and stake his claim as the new king of hardcore. Meng came out and clamped Funk in the Tongan Death Grip. After Daffney hit Meng with a chair, he kicked her to the floor. Crowbar charged with a wooden chair, but Meng punched right through it, clamping Crowbar in the Death Grip with the other hand. [wcw.com]
01/14/01 Sin PPV - Hardcore Title Match Meng d. Terry Funk and Crowbar with Daffney
Funk grabbed Daffney by her hair, pulling her out of the crowd until Crowbar broke up the attack with a chair. They fought into the ladies room, as Meng waited in the ring with the stolen hardcore title belt. The Tongan monster finally joined Crowbar and The Funker in the bathroom. All three used trashcans, mop buckets and fire extinguishers to beat each other. Tables and chairs were next used as weapons, before Crowbar let loose on Funk's face with the fire extinguisher. Crowbar climbed up and dove from the first level of seating in the arena, crashing Terry Funk through a table with a legdrop. Up on the stage, Meng and Crowbar exchanged hard chops. Funk came back with a shovel over Meng's head. Terry dropped Crowbar onto a guardrail set up sideways on the outside. Crowbar slammed Funk's knee inside a chair as the two battled ferociously inside the squared circle. Meng landed a big splash on both men from the top, but Funk and Crowbar traded chair shots over Meng's head. After Crowbar leveled him with a huge chairshot, Funk was finally pinned to the mat in the Tongan Death Grip. [wcw.com]

WCW has released five of their top women performers. Those who are said to be gone are Daffney, Paisley, Leia Meow, Major Gunns, and Tygress. Sources within the other two companies (WWF and ECW) have reported that at least two of the women have reportedly called them asking for work.
Eric Bischoff didn't like the profanity and all the women on WCW shows and it was expected that when Fusient Media and Bischoff took over the company, women, etc would be scaled back. Women were given prominent roles under Russo's rule as head of the creative team in WCW. It now appears that the expanded roles of women are WCW are gone. [Nick Moore] WebMaster's Note: Oh goody. Two of the main reasons I watch (Daffney & the delectable Major Gunns) are going to be gone? Great, I can get Dustin and Dusty Rhoades instead I suppose. Their appearance Monday makes me think that we're going to slide backwards in time with the WCW once again.

During a No Holds Barred radio show interview Daffney let the listeners know what she's been up to since leaving WCW. "Well I've actually had the pleasure of working for Dusty Rhodes and his TCW federation that is based out of Georgia and it's Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling. I've been training there for a little over 6 months and I've been working his shows for the past couple of months, and basically we're all around the southeast and there are a lot of stars and it's been a great learning experience and I'm just having a ball.
