Dawn Marie not done with SmackDown!’s rookie Divas yet

ALBANY, NY – There appears to be a fight for Diva supremacy happening on SmackDown!, as one particular member of the old guard isn’t being very accommodating to the new batch of WWE Divas.

Of the veteran SmackDown! Divas, Dawn Marie is the least tolerant of the newcomers. Thursday night, she made a stand. Upon entering the ladies dressing room during the broadcast, and finding rookie Divas –Lauren Jones, Joy Giovanni, and Michelle McCool– hanging out, Dawn Marie took immediate exception, and offered to settle the situation in the ring.

Of the three new Divas, Michelle McCool has taken somewhat of a leadership role. At No Way Out, when Dawn Marie was running the rookies down, and insulting their talents, Michelle showed she wasn’t scared of Dawn, and bodyslammed her to the mat. After that incident, Dawn began to look at McCool as more than just eye candy. Some would even say she now considers her to be a threat.

“A threat, are you kidding me?” asked Dawn. “Some girl that walks off the street is a threat? Sweetheart, I’m a professional. I’ve been in this business a long, long time, and that will be the day when some ordinary girl walks off the street and makes me feel threatened.”

When Michelle stood up to Dawn again this week on SmackDown!, the Woodbridge, New Jersey native took exception. This time, Dawn challenged her to a match, where each lady would find a WWE Superstar to be their partner. Dawn Chose Rene Dupree, Michelle got herself the Big Show.

Unfortunately for Dawn, the 7-foot, 470-pound giant proved to be too much for her “French Phenom” to handle. In a short match, Show dismantled Dupree, and picked up the win for him and Michelle. Despite the loss, Dawn Marie was still able to find some a moral victory in her and Rene’s defeat.

“It didn’t backfire,” argued Dawn after the contest. “My plans didn’t backfire. I got exactly what I wanted. I got Michelle McCool in the ring, and I got to show her a little bit of what being a WWE Diva really is about. Besides, she didn’t win the match, Big Show did. He did all of the work, not her. So to me, I still won.”

While on paper, Michelle did win the first battle, Dawn insists that the war is far from over. With or without the help of her fellow veteran Divas, Dawn Marie still plans on continuing her rookie hazing, and fans should expect to see more of Dawn’s shenanigans in the coming weeks.

“If you’ve been watching the past few years that I’ve been here,” concluded Dawn, “then you know that I never tip my hat, and I never show my cards. So if you want to find out what else I have in store for these newbies, you’ll just have to keep watching.”
