01/10/02 Thursday Smackdown As the show went on the air, Debra was discussing her upcoming schedule when she was approached by Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley. Stephanie said that her husband was back, and that The Game would kick Stone Cold Steve Austin's butt in the Royal Rumble -- obviously trying to create some tension between her husband and Debra's! Stephanie next excused herself and headed for the ring. [wwf.com]
01/14/02 Monday Night Raw A limo arrived backstage at the arena, and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley complained about being late to the arena due to getting bad directions from a bell clerk. Her husband, Triple H, got out of the other side of the limo, and seemed to be frustrated with his wife. She told Triple H she wanted him to kick the bell clerk's ass, and Hunter told his wife to calm down, saying he was going to kick some ass tonight, but it wasn't going to be a bell clerk's. So Stephanie instead yelled at the limo driver for not opening her door! Later Stephanie was shown in the backstage area, trying to get a backstage pass, and Debra walked by. Debra said something to Dave Hebner, and Stephanie said it sounded like Debra said something to her about her husband and the Royal Rumble. Debra told Stephanie that Stone Cold is going to whip Triple H's butt! Stephanie said she guesses it's true what they say. Blondes are dumb, because Triple H is going to kick Stone Cold's butt. Stephanie and Debra continued to argue, and Debra said that Stone Cold is going throw Triple H over the top rope. Stephanie said that she happens to know that Triple H is going to throw Debra over the top rope. The two shoved each other as they argued, and Debra slapped Stephanie across the face, and then Stephanie slapped Debra back! Debra then took Stephanie down by the hair and then Stephanie pulled Debra down and the two fought and WWF officials were there to break it up. Harvey Wippleman tried to tell Debra that's enough, but Debra told him to shut up, and she slapped him across the face! For pics - Click Here. A few minutes later while Triple H was getting ready backstage Stephanie complained about Debra, and how she had messed up her hair and make-up. The Game finally had had enough, and said he didn't need these distractions! Stephanie said she had been standing up for her husband after Debra had claimed that Austin would beat Hunter. The Game said he had beaten Austin before, and if Austin got in his way at the Rumble, he would do it again. Awhile later backstage, Stephanie was looking at her wedding ring as Triple H paced. The Game said he was heading to the ring, and that he was going alone. Stephanie didn't look happy to hear that she would have to remain backstage. [wwf.com, wwf.powerwrestling.com] WebMaster's Note: Boy it sure would be nice to see a good female feud like the good ole days. Lots of backstage and on-mic nastiness with the always present danger of hair pulling and catfighting. We haven't had one of these in ages. I hope the WWF continues this storyline and it develops into a full blown feud. It will be interesting to see which Diva pops out of her halter top first. Puppies and more Puppies!!
01/17/02 Thursday Smackdown Debra and Stone Cold talked backstage, and Debra said she was still mad about what happened between her and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley on RAW. She said she wanted Austin and Triple H to defeat Booker T and Angle, while she would destroy Stephanie. Austin said that he wanted Debra to stay in the locker room, and to worry about Stephanie later, because he had business to take care of in the ring. He said he had no doubts she would get Stephanie later. Triple H was preparing for his match backstage, and talking to Stephanie. Stephanie said she was so excited that Debra was not allowed at ringside. She theorized that it was because Debra was of no value at ringside, unlike her. Triple H said he didn't want Stephanie at ringside either. Triple H said it was his first match back, and he had to go out there with Stone Cold three days before they tear each other apart at the Rumble. He said he didn't want Austin as his partner. He said this whole thing wasn't about Stephanie, it was about him, and he wanted no distractions at ringside, because he needed to do this alone. The main event on SmackDown! saw Triple H compete in his first television match in eight months, as he teamed with Stone Cold Steve Austin against Kurt Angle and Booker T, just three days before all four men enter the Royal Rumble match! The match on SmackDown! was made by Mr. McMahon, who forced The Game to team with the Rattlesnake, knowing their combustible history together. Triple H and Stonecold went on to win the match. 01/18/02 Internet Rumors As we saw this past week on Raw, there was a heated dispute between Stephanie and Debra. Although many would like to see these two battle it out in the ring, as of now the writers, including Stephanie, do not appear to be leaning this way. [Amber Andrews] WebMaster's Note: Well this would shoot down our wish for a good feud (see above). Leave it to the WWF to once again not further a good storyline for the women.

06/21/02 Internet News The following is from MTV.com: Wrestling star and one-time co-host of "Celebrity Deathmatch" Stone Cold Steve Austin (real name Steve Williams) is currently wanted by police in San Antonio, Texas, after he allegedly attacked his wife, Debra, on Saturday. According to police reports, Debra — who performs alongside her husband as part of World Wrestling Entertainment — suffered a swollen cheek and eye and bruises to her back and shoulder. Austin was suspended by WWE last week after he failed to appear at one of the company's live television broadcasts. [Matt Boone] ----- The following is the police report from the Austin/Debra assault: The wife of Stone Cold Steve Austin (real name: Steven Williams) told San Antonio cops Saturday (6/15) that the professional wrestler assaulted her following an argument, leaving her with a welt on her face and bruises on her back, according to this police incident report. Responding to a 911 call, officers found Debra Williams, 42, standing at the front door of her home crying. She told cops that her husband "hit her several times after an argument," and left the residence after she called police.
While cops removed Steven Williams's name from the report, it is clear that he is the assault suspect referred to since the document indicates that Debra Williams told officers she "was nervous because she said her 'husband is famous.'" She added, "I can't believe he hit me." While cops were interviewing Debra Williams, the wrestler twice called his house and spoke to officers, though he "declined" police requests to return to the residence.
As is customary in domestic abuse cases, a "uniformed evidence technician" was dispatched to the Williams home to document Debra's injuries. The police probe of Steven Williams will be held in abeyance until Debra Williams decides whether to pursue charges against her husband. [Matt Boone] -Shocking details are still coming out from yesterday's news of Austin hitting his wife in their Texas home. Debra told the police that it wasn't the first time that her husband hit her and she was always afraid to call the police due to his high-profile status. She told the police officer, "I can't believe he hit me." W-O Newsletter reader Mark Roberts sent in a link from TheSmokingGun.com website which shows a scan of the police incident report. The report says that Steve left the house right after Debra called the police. The officers who responded to the 911 call found her crying at the front door of their house. She had a swollen right cheek and bruises on her back after her husband hit her several times and shoved her. The report also states that the victim refused medical help. Steve called twice while police officers were investigating Debra but refused to go home as requested by the police. The officer who spoke with Steve told him that there will be a detective that will assess the assault. Steve thanked him and said he understands. No charges have been filed by Debra. The scan of the police report can be seen at http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/stonecold1.html [Colin Vassallo] ----- SAN ANTONIO, June 17 (Reuters) - The wife of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin has accused the wrestling star of beating her after a weekend argument at their home in an upscale neighborhood of San Antonio, police said on Monday.
Debra Williams, also a professional wrestler, called police to the couple's home on Saturday night and told officers that Austin had beaten her on the head, back and legs then stormed out of the house before police arrived.
Austin called the house while officers were there and was told he was in trouble, according to a police report. Austin told them he understood, but declined a request to return to the house or report to the police station, the report said.
Williams has not filed a formal charge, so Austin is not considered a fugitive, according to Sgt. Gabe Trevino. Williams was not hospitalized after the alleged assault.
Austin, a native Texan and former North Texas State University football player began wrestling professionally in 1992 and is one of the leading stars of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. WWF.N , formerly known as the World Wrestling Federation.
World Wrestling Entertainment spokesman Gary Davis said Austin recently failed to appear at two scheduled performances, one in Montreal and one in Austin, Texas, describing the no-shows as an "unacceptable violation of his contract."
Davis said Austin was apparently dissatisfied with the way his character was being developed for WWE shows.
Williams, a former beauty queen, is also affiliated with World Wrestling Entertainment. [Fred Cook] ----- Thanks to Extra for the following: A terrified Miss Debra called 911 early Sunday morning to report a violent argument with her husband at their luxury home inside a gated community in San Antonio. Police say they found her weeping with a welt under her right eye and bruises on her back. Sergeant Gabriel Trevino says, "We saw some very visible signs of bodily injury to the victim."
Trevino says "Stone Cold" had fled before officers arrived on the scene and they're yet to make an arrest or even question him. He says, "We're in the middle of the investigation process now."
The scandal has rocked Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Entertainment empire, which had molded "Stone Cold" into one of its biggest stars. WWE honcho Jim Ross says the alleged assault comes just a week after another "Stone Cold" furor in which the wrestler suddenly walked out over creative differences. Ross says, "There's something else bothering him and I wish I knew what it was so I could help him."
"Stone Cold" is believed to have finally returned to his home yesterday (Monday). News choppers spotted him driving away in a yellow corvette to rendezvous with an unidentified companion. Police say they are unable to take any further action against him unless Miss Debra files formal assault charges, which seems unlikely. Ross says, "My sources have told me they've reconciled and are working things out." [Fred Cook]
06/28/02 Internet Rumor Wrestlers in the WWE locker room were not shocked to hear about the domestic situation involving Steve Austin and Debra a few weeks ago.
While they were surprised to hear the news, they claimed they weren't too shocked about it because they could see it happening. Wrestlers insist Austin was over-protective of Debra for as long they can remember.
There was a situation once in the locker room where Raven and Austin got into a little bit when Debra was cutting a promo near the showers backstage, and Raven came out of the shower in a towel. Austin felt Raven was flaunting himself at Debra, while Raven claimed he didn't know Debra was around.
The situation was cooled down immediately, but one of many times where Austin has blown up over something related to Debra. [Matt Boone]
07/12/02 Internet News The National Enquirer is quoting Brian Pillman's widow, Melanie King, saying Debra is threatening to divorce Steve Austin if he does not get back into wrestling and chooses to retire.
"The marriage between Steve and Debra is rocky at best," said Melanie, claiming Austin's wants to have children and Debra doesn't because it would affect her physical figure. "Debra keeps pushing him back into wrestling, saying that if he quits, she'll leave him. She is captivated by fame and their arguments are getting more frequent. She flatly refuses to have kids because she doesn't want to lose her figure. Steve is devastated by her decision."
The Enquirer goes on to quote Debra from the police report where she says she cannot believe he hit her, followed by a description of phyiscal damages done to Debra from Austin, allegedly, during the assault. [Matt Boone]
08/16/02 Internet News There has been some new information released regarding Steve Williams arrest. The San Antonio Express News published a report stating that Steve Williams turned himself into police today with his legal counsel present at his side.
Austin, who had assaulted his wife Debra back on June 15, 2002, was charged with an assault that caused a bodily injury, was booked and fingerprinted before posting his bond. It seems that Debra finally pressed charges this past Monday, which allowed a judge to issue an arrest warrant in the matter. It appears that the district attorney's office has pursued the case as well.
According the published report in the San Antonio Express-News, Steve Williams was accompanied by his lawyers to a small booking room located in the basement of the Bexar County Courthouse this afternoon. There, he was officially charged with an assault that caused bodily injury. Williams, 37, was booked and fingerprinted shortly before posting a $5,000 bond.
About a dozen courthouse employees were seen standing around in the hallway in hopes of catching a glimpse of the 6-foot-2, 260-pound wrestling star who makes his home in the San Antonio area. "Nothing happened," Williams said as he left the room and headed toward the courthouse's exit with two lawyers. "I rather not comment right now."
Debra Williams could not be reached for comments. The San Antonio Police Department forwarded the case to the Bexar County district attorney's officer, which pursued the case and presented it to the judge this week. The case has been assigned to Judge Bill White’s County Court-at-Law 7, but an appearance date for the wrestler has not been set. [1Wrestling.com & San Antonio Express-News]
08/23/02 Internet Rumor Debra’s contract has also been suspended, in the same manner as Stone Cold’s. [Dan Elder] ----- Hey I was watching the TV show "Extra" today and they had a small story about Steve Austin hitting his wife Debra. It just said that they got in to a fight, the cops where called and that Steve himself said that he and Debra worked it out and are back together. [Matt Boone] ----- I was reading British newspaper 'The Sun' Friday (8/16) and it had an article about Stone Cold Steve Austin beating his wife. Strangely though, it was mostly about the first time he did it. It also said Debra was 33 when I thought she was 43. [Matt Boone] ----- For those of you who follow the legal system, this is what is going on with the current 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin/Debra situation. First and foremost, the case itself is being brought on by the State of Texas and not Debra. The District Attorney's office has pursued the case and is using the original police report as documented proof of the 'assault'.
Although Debra did not pursue the matter further, she could still be sworn into court by the Texas District Attorney's office.
If the DA's office continues to go forward with this case which it looks like they will, they will continue to use the original police report filed by Steve William's wife, Debra. Steve Austin will be due back in court, but I do not have the date as of this time. [Matt Boone]
08/30/02 Internet News LexisNexis.com, which is a public research site for lawyers, apparently has records of Steve Williams filing divorce from his wife Debra. The public record states that the Steve Williams filed for divorce on July 22, 2002, and that the case (2002CI10602) is currently pending. [Buck Woodward, 1wrestling.com]
09/08/02 Internet Rumor Steve Williams (aka Stone Cold Steve Austin) has decided to drop his divorce proceedings with wife Debra Williams. Apparently, the Bexar County, Texas court dismissed Austin's petition to file for divorce when he chose to no longer pursue it last week. [Andy Steven, The-Warzone.com]
10/18/02 Internet News Suspended WWE Star Steve Austin made an appearance in Bexar County to have a hearing to set another future court date. Steve Williams (Austin) was scheduled to answer charges regarding the misdemeanor assault charges filed against him stemming from the June 15th incident when his wife, Debra, called the police and said Williams had hit her following an argument. Debra did not press charges, but the district attorney is pursuing the case.
Nothing of note came from today's hearing, other than a new court date being set. A warrant had been issued for Williams' arrest on August 12th, and he turned himself into authorities on August 13th, where he was charged with misdemeanor assault and released after posting a $5,000 bond. 10/25/02 Internet Rumor The San Antonio Express News reported yesterday that Steve Austin appeared in court today in a pre-trial hearing concerning the assault case pending against him from the June 15 incident where he allegedly struck his wife Debra.
In court today he said that he had learned from his ordeal and vowed to keep out of trouble, saying that the arrest and jurisprudence has "definitely been a learning experience." He also told reporters at the courthouse that "You won’t find me here again." As it stands now, he has another pretrial hearing on 11/25. If a plea agreement is not reached beforehand, the trial starts on 12/3. [powerwrestling.com]
11/29/02 Internet News Good news to report on the "Stone Cold" Steve Austin front. Steve Williams (Steve Austin) pleaded "no contest" to assault charges levied against him in a Bexar County (TX) court. The charges were a result of a domestic dispute between Williams and his wife Debra. According to news reports, Austin will pay a $1,000 fine, serve one year probation and do 80-hours of community service in exchange for a clear record. He also has to abide by certain provisions which include no drinking alcohol for the next year of his probation period. He also has to seek domestic violence counseling. If Williams meets all the said requirements set out by the court, without breaching any part of the agreement, the record would be wiped clear. The San Antonio Express reports that Assistant District Attorney Scott Simpson said Austin's punishment was adequate because it was the wrestler's first run-in with the law, and he pointed out that only a small percentage of domestic violence cases are tried in court. "He had no prior history of abuse to his wife," Simpson said. "From the beginning he wanted to take responsibility. Hopefully, he'll learn that this is inappropriate behavior." The newspaper report said that Austin "strolled" out of the courtroom "with relief washing over his face." Austin told the media afterward:"I don't think anyone is perfect. And whether you call me Stone Cold Steve Austin, Steve Williams or whatever, I'm not perfect either. I have good days and bad days." [Daniel Bradshaw, PowerWrestling.com] |
