WWE "CONFIDENTIAL" COVER STORY
ON MISS ELIZABETH'S LIFE AND DEATH

Miss Elizabeth (Elizabeth Hulette - Born November 19th, 1960 in Kentucky) and her man, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, were an extraordinary couple during their stay in the WWF. He of course did all the talking and she stood demurely by and smiled prettily for the fans.  They finally married one another at the SUMMERSLAM '91 PPV "A Match Made In Heaven - A Match Made In Hell." During the reception Liz opened a package from Jake "The Snake" Roberts which contained a live Cobra snake. A few seconds later Jake attacked Randy Savage and needless to say it was utter chaos from that point on.

After a year or two of wedded bliss one of the biggest feuds to ever hit the WWF began brewing. Randy's jealousy got the best of him during the time that Elizabeth managed Randy and Hulk Hogan as a Championship tag team. This feud gave fans several great matches between the two and finally culminated in one of the best matches ever in WWF history - Macho Man/Hulk Hogan anything goes - at WrestleMania 5.

Not long after leaving the WWF and entering the WCW Liz and Randy story line revolved around them splitting up and getting a divorce. According to the "plot" she planned to take Randy for everything he had while she worked with Ric Flair and the Horsemen and spent all Randy's money.  It came as a surprise to some when Liz and Randy really did get a divorce in real life.

The estranged pair became part of the nWo and began a feud with Diamond Dallas and Kimberly. Both of them would taunt DDP & Kimberly more than once about Kimberly's Playboy centerfold which had just been released. "Macho" managed to do a lot of hiding behind Elizabeth whenever Diamond Dallas came after him and the fans never really got what they hoped for during this battle of the couples - we never really got to see a one-on-one between the two women.

In December 1997 Elizabeth married Cary Lubetsky a South Florida attorney.  In a magazine interview she stated "I want to have kids" and "I wanted to lead a normal life". Miss Elizabeth then began working part-time for the WCW.  It was rumored not long after, that the happy couple had split up after just a couple of months into the marriage.

During 1999 she became a valet for "The Total Package" Lex Luger, which included making Sting think that she was his manager and had left Lex. During the Starrcade PPV in December she helped Lex defeat The Stinger by first trying to spray him with mace and then hitting him with a baseball bat. I don't think I or the fans have ever seen Miss Elizabeth this vicious and even Bobbie 'The Brain' was astounded. It was nice that after all those years, we got to see the sweet, demure 'Miss' Elizabeth show us some real 'attitude'!

After the WCW folded in early 2001 we no longer saw anything of Liz nor was there any news other than she had gotten divorced and had moved in with Lex Luger in Atlanta, GA.

On May 1, 2003 the wrestling world was shocked by the news that "The First Lady Of Wrestling" had died under mysterious circumstances, after being rushed to the hospital from the home of Lex Luger.  It was also widely reported that police had been called to the residence Easter weekend over a domestic disturbance and that Lex had been arrested for assault and had to post bail.  For all the unfortunate final news in the career of Miss Elizabeth please read the Latest Updates section below.

Unfortunately for those of us who are long time Miss Elizabeth fans these will be the last entries into her illustrious career.  She was one of the first true "Divas" in the wrestling world and there are many of us who couldn't wait for her to show up in the ring.  To many fans she was the ideal "fantasy woman".   She appeared as a soft spoken and compassionate woman who could be as "hard as nails" when the chips were down and she always stood by her man.  She will be missed by many.

Autopsy Results Pending in Death of Miss Elizabeth

Updated: 10:14 a.m. EDT May 2, 2003

MARIETTA -- Preliminary autopsy results in the death of the professional wrestler known as Miss Elizabeth could be released Friday as authorities continue their inquiry into how she died.

Elizabeth Hulette, 42, known in the wrestling world as Miss Elizabeth, was taken early Thursday from the Cobb County town home owned by Lawrence Pfohl, who wrestled professionally as Lex Luger.

Rescue workers were summoned around 5:30 a.m. to the home, which is located off of Powers Ferry Road, Cobb police spokesman Cpl. Brody Staud said.

He said the woman died at Kennestone Hospital shortly after she arrived, but authorities have not yet determined her cause of death.

"At this point, we don't know if it's a suicide, we don't know if it's a natural death (and) we don't know if it's a homicide," said Staud, who added later that there was no indication of foul play.

The woman was transported to Kennestone by ambulance. Authorities said Pfohl, 44, rode with her to the hospital. Neighbors said the woman was Pfohl's girlfriend.

Several hours after Hulette was pronounced dead, Pfohl was arrested after investigators found illegal substances in his home, which were identified as large quantities of anabolic steroids. He was released from jail Thursday after posting a $25,000 bond.

Authorities said police recently responded to a domestic disturbance call at his home two weeks ago, during which Pfohl was arrested for allegedly beating Hulette, according to a copy of the police report. He was out on a $2,500 bond in connection with that incident when he was re-arrested on the controlled substance charge. It was not immediately clear what the substance was.

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) -- Elizabeth A. Hulette, a wrestling personality who was known to fans as ``Miss Elizabeth,'' died Thursday. She was 42. Cobb County authorities planned an autopsy to determine the cause.

Emergency personnel responding to a 911 call found Hulette at the home of former pro wrestler Lawrence Pfohl, also known as ``Lex Luger.'' Hulette had been living with Pfohl.

Pfohl was taken into custody on unrelated drug charges and was released on bond early Friday.

Hulette was married to former wrestler Randy ``The Macho Man'' Savage, and was his manager before they divorced in 1992. She and Savage became popular personalities in the World Wrestling Federation, which they entered in 1985.

Hulette also had managed pro wrestler Hulk Hogan and Pfohl.

Last month, police responded to a domestic violence call at Pfohl's house and arrested him. Pfohl was accused of punching Hulette in the face and was charged with battery.

Boyfriend told 911 Hulette was 'gurgling'
By CRAIG SCHNEIDER
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Wrestling celebrity Miss Elizabeth had been mixing vodka and painkillers before she sat down to eat, started gurgling and then died, according to police reports.

Cobb County authorities have yet to declare an official cause of death in the May 1 incident in which the 42-year-old woman, whose real name was Elizabeth Hulette, was found unresponsive at the home of her boyfriend, former wrestling superstar Lex Luger.

According to the 911 tape, a panicky Luger, whose real name is Lawrence Pfohl, told the operator about 5:30 a.m., "I have an emergency, medical. My girlfriend has passed out and I can't get her to come to."

He said he couldn't tell if Hulette was breathing, adding: "We were eating and she started gurgling. I don't know why. Please send somebody, please."

Pfohl later told police that Hulette drank about two glasses of vodka and took some medication for her back pain, according to the police report.

While she was sitting on a couch eating a plate of food, he said, she started choking. He picked up some napkins and tried to remove whatever food was in her mouth. Then he started shaking her, hoping the food would come up, but she still wasn't breathing, the report said.

He told the 911 operator, "I couldn't get her to focus her eyes . . . She's like totally limp."

During the 911 call, Pfohl appeared less sure about the choking. When the operator asked him if he saw Hulette choking, he responded he did not know. When the operator tried to have him perform CPR on his unconscious girlfriend, he responded that when he breathed into her mouth, he could not see her chest move.

"When I blow in, there's just gurgling, probably from the food," he said.

By the time emergency crews arrived, five minutes after the call came in, the woman's skin had turned purplish. She was pronounced dead at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. The full autopsy report is expected in a month or two.

Hours after the incident, investigators combing through the three-story townhouse said they discovered more than 1,000 illegal pills. Pfohl was charged with 13 counts of felony drug possession. Among the drugs were steroids and other bodybuilding drugs, as well as pain medication and anxiety drugs, authorities said.

Cobb County police said preliminary autopsy findings showed no sign of foul play. Police do not suspect Pfohl in the death of his girlfriend, said spokesman Cpl. Brody Staud.

An autopsy may be able to determine whether Hulette died of choking on food, of some deadly mix of alcohol or drugs -- of some combination of the two factors -- or even another cause, said Dr. Julie Jervis, a forensic pathologist at Kaplan College in Iowa. She described a common scenario called "cafe coronary," in which people who are drinking alcohol and eating lose their eating coordination, choke on food and die of asphyxiation.

Then again, she said, if some food blocking her airway became dislodged at some point, the autopsy might not be able to determine the exact cause of death, and the final cause could be listed as "undetermined." [Atlanta Journal-Constitution]

The following was posted on Madusa's Official web Site:

I first want to start off by saying My prayers and condolences go out to Liz's Mother and brother. I Have known Liz for a long time thanks to the Pro wrestling biz that is one good thing that does happen in the biz that you meet wonderful people and some you just stay closer with, like Miss Elizabeth. Liz and I have shared some wonderful times, laughing, crying, traveling and just plain being "girl friends". Liz has truly been an inspiration to every woman in this sport and started a path for the women of today. Her beauty is priceless, her voice I can still her in my head. I cried and I cried hard and I am angry. I feel that when tragic strikes our emotions want to strike back for the fear of not knowing what or how it happened, usually that is the case...I can tell you this the reason for her death will not go unnoticed and I truly believe "The reason of why it happened will burn in hell!!" We miss you Liz.....

WebMaster's Note:  So is she saying that she knows the real reason Elizabeth dies or what.

The following was an article on the Slam! Sports web site:

Little angel of wrestling
Miss Elizabeth was one of the most genuine ladies the business ever saw
By Bret Hart

When my kids were young and I brought them on the road with me, Liz would often graciously offer to watch them while I had to work.

When my oldest daughter, Jade, now 20, was still in single digits, she idolized Liz and enjoyed getting all dolled up like her.

One thing that shouldn't be overlooked about Liz is that when the wrestling business slid into sleaze in the late '90s, she remained a lady.

She was more than deserving of the moniker First Lady of Wrestling -- which, in no small irony, was also the title given to my mother by fans and wrestlers alike.

Both my mother and Miss Elizabeth somehow managed to stay true to themselves, civilized and polished, sharp and articulate, even though they were constantly surrounded by ruffians and chaos.

I don't recall ever seeing Liz in a bad mood.

She was always courteous and polite and never ever developed a trace of a prima- donna attitude. She never walked around with her nose in the air thinking she was bigger than the wrestlers, even though for a time she was, unlike most of the women who came up after her.

When I arrived in WCW in December of 1997, I was pleasantly surprised to find Liz there, managing Lex Luger.

One of my last conversations with her was in the spring of 1999, shortly after my brother Owen died.

She sensed my heartache as she gently told me after watching me for all these years, she just wanted to thank me -- for what, I wasn't sure.

But she went on to say I was her favourite and, although she didn't pretend to be an expert, she said she'd seen with her own eyes how hard I'd worked -- for everybody in the dressing room -- year after year.

She said she wanted me to know how truly sorry she was things had turned out so dark for me at the end and I deserved so much better.

She gave me a sincere hug and, over the years, her kind praise has meant so much more to me than she will ever know.

Miss Elizabeth was my friend.

I loved her dearly and will miss her dearly. I only wish I'd have told her how very much she meant to me, too.

All those wrestlers in heaven will have to part and make way for the little angel of wrestling.

More information came to light this week concerning Miss Elizabeth's last moments. According to her longtime companion, Lex Luger, she had washed down pain medication with two glasses of vodka. He said she began to choke while they were eating (although during his 911 call, when he was specifically asked if she was choking, he said he didn't know).

The cause of death is still pending, but some interesting theories are already making the rounds. In addition to the possibility that she may have died from choking or from mixing drugs with alcohol, an article in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted Dr. Julie Jervis, a forensic pathologist at Kaplan College in Iowa, as saying the death may have been the result of "cafe coronary . . . a scenario in which people who are drinking alcohol and eating lose their eating coordination, choke on food, and die of asphyxiation."

In what may be the final GIR show ever Mean Gene Okerlund joined the show for one of the most memorable shows in Get in the Ring history.

The talk turned to the recent criticism about the Elizabeth and Lex Luger Confidential episodes. Gene says it is such a tragic story and the whole ordeal was likely difficult for Luger. Lex did not do his career any good with his actions on Easter Sunday. Gene says that he tried to get Luger on the show to give his side of the story but he did not respond. Gene does not believe they glamorized or glorified Miss Elizabeth's death and they never went out on a limb and speculated about what happened. They will likely report again once autopsy results in.

MARIETTA - A fatal of mix of pills and alcohol caused the untimely and accidental April death of the wrestling icon “Miss Elizabeth,” according to the final autopsy results released Thursday.

At the time of her death, 42-year-old Elizabeth Hulette had a blood alcohol level of 0.29 and a mix of painkillers, nausea medication and tranquilizers in her system, said Mark Bishop, operations manager of the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office.

In Georgia, drivers operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or above are considered impaired.

Bishop said Ms. Hulette’s death has been ruled accidental, due to “acute toxicity,” or an overdose. He said there is nothing to indicate suicide or foul play.
