JERRY THE KING AND STACY UPDATE
The following is directly from KingLawler.com dated 04-26-01

I guess the biggest attention getter was an appearance by Stacy and I on Mancow's radio show in Chicago. Now, for those of you who don't know, Mancow is the top radio personality in Chicago and his show is syndicated around the country. He certainly wouldn't like me to say this, but his style is similar to Howard Stern, meaning they are what some refer to as "shock jocks." Mancow will say absolutely anything on his show and ask his guests some very provocative questions. But it's all in fun....or at least it's meant to be. I don't think anything heard on Mancow's radio show should be taken completely serious. Let's face it, how serious can you take a guy whose sidekick on the show is named "Turd?" Anyway, we were asked to be on Mancow's show to plug a wrestling event we were appearing at in Kinosha, Wisconsin, a city midway between Chicago and Milwaukee.

Also on the show that morning was Susan Hawk, the lady truck driver from the "Survivor" show, and by the way, she was very nice and very personable, and a huge King and Stacy fan! She loves wrestling and kept saying she couldn't believe she was on the same show with us! So Mancow was asking us all all sorts of questions and suddenly he fired out, "King, do you hate Vince McMahon now, after what he's done to you?" to which I answered, "No, I don't hate Vince McMahon." Then Mancow said, "Well, if you heard that Vince was killed in a car accident would you cry?" My answer was, "I wouldn't want to see that happen to anyone, but I don't know if I would actually cry." Then Mancow immediately switched off Vince and said, "I think Vince's daughter Stephanie is a hottie...King, do you think Stephanie would be wild in the sack?" My answer was, "Well, I've heard from Bruce Prichard that she is!" Now before you have time to explain your answers, Mancow is off onto another subject. Next he said, "Let's be honest King, the guy who replaced you, Paul Heyman, or whatever his name is...he sucks! Don't you think he sucks??? Then everyone in the studio started yelling "He Sucks!!" So finally, I said "OK, He sucks!"

If you had actually been listening to the show you would have known that the entire interview was in a lighthearted vein and in jest, but lo and behold, by the time it was translated into written word on the internet, I read all sorts of things that I supposedly said! One site reported that "Jerry Lawler was on the radio and said he hoped Vince McMahon dies in a car wreck and he said that Bruce Prichard and Stephanie McMahon were sleeping together! Now I thought my first answer was pretty clear but I can see where it might have been misinterpreted, so let me make a couple of things perfectly clear. I don't hate Vince McMahon. I don't hope Vince McMahon or anyone ever dies in a car accident. I'm not even mad at Vince McMahon or anyone in the WWF right now. I might be mad at someone if I ever find out exactly what was behind Stacy's termination, but right now, we still don't know, so I'm not mad at anybody there.

Now about my answer to the Stephanie being "wild in the sack" question. First off, I did not mean to imply that Bruce Prichard was sleeping with Stephanie, but since I didn't get a chance to elaborate on the show it may have seemed that way. The truth is, when I was in the WWF, on more than one occasion Bruce and I had conversations concerning Stephanie. They were "guy type" conversations..commenting on how good she looked and what she might be like. Frankly, I think Stephanie is very attractive and can look incredibly sexy, but not knowing Stephanie very well personally, I always thought that was just a "look" that she was trying to achieve for her character on TV. One day, Bruce and I were talking about that "look" and I said something to the effect of, "Man, Stephanie looks hot!! Do you think she would be as hot as she looks?" To which Bruce replied, "Oh King, I could tell you some stories about how wild Stephanie is...even back to her college days!" Now by this, I knew Bruce didn't mean he had slept with Stephanie, but meant he had heard stories himself. So that's why I said what I said....It's just another example of how things get turned around on the internet.

As far as the "Paul Sucks" statement, that was said only because everyone else was saying it and it was expected of me to say it for entertainment's sake on the show. In reality, I don't know if Paul sucks or not...I don't watch the WWF anymore. I get an awful lot of e-mails from fans that say Paul sucks, but I get some from Paul fans that say he is doing a good job. I'm sure Paul is doing as good as he can. I'm sure he is trying hard, but his style is totally different from mine and it will take a lot of fans a long time to get used to.

Anyway, so much for the Mancow radio show...I hope that is cleared up. Neither Stacy nor I went on that show with the intention of saying anything bad about anybody, we just wanted to plug the wrestling event we were going to be at. Another rumor that has been making the rounds was somewhat more amusing. Did you hear the one about the reason Stacy was fired was because of a photograph of Stacy and Chyna kissing being shown around backstage? And that it supposedly upset Chyna and then she demanded Stacy be fired! Complete nonsense!!! The photograph in question can be seen on my website by going to Stacy's section and clicking on "KatKam" pics. On the very first page of pictures is the shot that people are talking about. Look at the date the picture was taken...February 2, 2000....way over a year ago, and it's been on my website ever since....I took the picture myself, they weren't actually "kissing" they were playing...posing and mugging for the camera. And if you look at the next batch of pictures taken in March of 2000, you'll see that Stacy and Chyna were very close friends and enjoyed playing around backstage. Chyna saw the pictures when they were made and again when they were on the website and was never upset about them in the least...she actually "posed" for them. So that's why I say I'm sure that Chyna did not have Stacy fired over these pictures.

Another issue I would like to clear up is the letter I wrote to Vince about a week after Stacy and I left the WWF. Several days had passed since that day in Tucson and we had not heard a word from anyone in the WWF. One day my phone rang and it was someone from the WWF who asked to remain nameless so I will honor his request. He said that he felt the situation could be resolved if I would just call Vince and speak to him personally now that some time had passed. I agreed that I would, but then thought that if I wrote Vince a letter, he could read it at his leisure and I would be assured that I didn't catch him at a bad time. I wrote the letter from my heart. In it I stated that I wished the whole situation had never occurred and that I wished both Stacy and I were still working for the WWF. That is how I felt at the time. I was not "begging" for my job back, or for Stacy's job back. I do not need to "beg" for anything. I've had a long and very lucrative career in wrestling. I owned a wrestling company along with Jerry Jarrett, for 20 years and sold it for over a million dollars in 1997. I learned from Jackie Fargo many years ago in this business, it's not what you make, but what you save, and I've been fortunate enough to be able to say that I own a beautiful home in Memphis, Tennessee, a beautiful condominium in Ft. Myers, Florida, a few CD's and annuities that are growing constantly, but most importantly, a little over a million dollars in cash in the bank....and believe me, Cash is King!!! So, as I said, I don't need to beg, and I wasn't begging for anything from Vince, and I'm still not. As a matter of fact, I don't know if I would go back to the WWF if Vince begged me! The letter I wrote to Vince only came to light after Dave Meltzer asked me on his radio show if I had tried to contact the WWF in any way since I had left, and so I read the letter to him and his listeners and explained that I had gotten no response from Vince about the letter.

As far as any other communication with the WWF, it has mainly boiled down to attorneys talking to each other. The thing that sort of upsets me about the WWF is that while you are working for them everything is fine....you are a "Superstar"...but when they are through with you, they expect you to vanish from the face of the earth, and never be heard from again while they go on about their business of being the WWF. God forbid you should have the nerve to go on a radio show if asked or on a TV talk show if invited. It's like, "you're not in the WWF anymore, so you shouldn't matter enough to do anything in the media." The WWF lawyer has seemed appalled at every word that has come out of my mouth and tells my lawyer that I am burning my bridges and hurting any chance of my coming back to the WWF by talking on radio or TV shows and he seems especially concerned about the internet. All I have to say to that is.... I am not saying anything in any media that is not the truth, and if the truth hurts, that's not my problem. I really don't understand why the WWF is doing some of the things they have done since we have been gone...such as, pulling their developmental wrestlers from my friend Randy Hale's Memphis Power Pro promotion the night before he was to produce a live TV show on TV5 in Memphis just because he wanted to have Stacy and I on that same show. They also cut off his $750. a week salary just for using Stacy and me. It's like we have the plague...certain wrestlers have been told that they will be fired if they even talk to us!! I'm wrestling for an independent promoter in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in a couple of weeks and some other wrestlers he wanted to use on the show were told they would never have a chance to work for the WWF if they worked on the same show as Stacy and me.

And speaking of Stacy, a few months ago, she and I met with Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion in California. At that meeting, Mr. Hefner told Stacy that he thought she should be the next WWF Diva to grace the pages of Playboy. Earlier this week, we received word from Playboy that for now, the answer is "no" to Stacy..."but if the WWF relationship with Playboy does not go forward, they might conceivable change their minds about Stacy".... What is the deal?? Why can't we just agree to go our separate ways and be done with it? But don't expect Stacy and I to not exist. We want to live too! Fortunately, there are still some people out there that would like to hear from us and to see us. As a matter of fact we have been flooded with offers to wrestle for independent promoters both in the states, in Canada and the United Kingdom!
