11/08/99 Monday Night Raw Linda McMahon expressed how proud and happy she was for the couple.
03/10/00 RAW Magazine In the March 2000 issue of RAW magazine there is a full depth article on Linda McMahon in which she is asked "What do the McMahon's talk about over the dinner table?" Her answer - Stephanie's shocking behavior. "She appears to be consumed with power. As this magazine goes to press, I'm not quite sure what to make of her behavior. It is so antithetical to what I have always believed to be our daughter's character."
03/23/00 Thursday Smackdown After promising an announcement that would "knock the WWF off its foundation" earlier in the night, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley appeared. She invited her mother Linda to join her in the ring. Then Stephanie told us about the "struggles" she had to go through as a youngster - how her mom made her make her own bed, instead of having the maid do it; how Linda limited her to $100 a week in junior high school; how when she turned 16 Linda only got her the "regular" sports car, instead of the turbo model. Stephanie then revealed that when Linda didn't give her enough money during college, she'd "use her assets" to get more from the company CFO. If that wasn't shocking enough, Stephanie then said she agreed with Triple H - that Linda is a conniving b*tch! To add injury to insult, Stephanie slapped her mother across the face, knocking Linda off her foundation! Stephanie retreated up the ramp as Triple H appeared from the back, and the married couple embraced as a morose Linda looked on from the ring. [wwf.com] For pics - Click Here.
03/27/00 Monday Night Raw At the top of the show, Linda McMahon addressed the crowd. She apologized to the fans for the ugly family affair that has been played out in front of the TV cameras. Linda then demanded that Stephanie come out and apologize for her actions. It was then that Vince McMahon came to ringside and voiced his concerns for Linda's safety at WrestleMania. After Vince made his concerns known, he too demanded that Stephanie apologize.
Stephanie quickly made her way from the back and actually apologized to her mother. She said that she didn't want to slap her. She wanted to slap her father instead. Vince then threatened to slap her fanny until it turned blue. Luckily for Stephanie, Triple H's presence kept Vince from coming through on his threat. [wwf.com]
03/30/00 Thursday Smackdown Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley came out and read a letter from one of her fans (yes, Stephanie has a few fans). Vince came out and said that listening to Stephanie gave him a headache. Linda appeared as well as said she couldn't stand to see her family degenerate into what it has become. She demanded that Vince stand up as the patriarch of the family and fix things. Vince came up with an idea to fix things right away; he ordered Stephanie into her very first wrestling match against the Women's Champion, Jacqueline. [wwf.com]
04/17/00 Monday Night Raw The World Wrestling Federation Championship was on the line when Chris Jericho challenged Triple H for the title. Prior to the match, Y2J took over where he left off last week, making fun of Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley. Also before the match got under way, Jericho told Triple H that the Acolytes would be in his corner. In Triple H's corner was his wife and her brother, Shane. The champ's focus seemed to be elsewhere in the early going, as Jericho assaulted Triple H - several times nearly walking away with the Championship. Finally when it appeared as though Jericho would have Hunter's number, the assigned referee was knocked out. Senior referee Earl Hebner then came down and finished the officiating duties. When it was all said and done, Chris Jericho defeated Triple H and captured the World Wrestling Federation Championship after hitting him with a moonsault.
After the commercial break, Triple H, Stephanie and Shane physically brought Earl Hebner into the ring. Triple H also brought in the originally assigned referee, Mike Chiota. Triple H then asked for Chiota's professional opinion. Chiota responded, saying that Hebner screwed Triple H. Hebner then said that he would reverse the decision if Triple H promised never to lay another hand on him as long as he was a WWF referee. As soon as Triple H was given the Championship back, Hebner learned that he was fired. Shane and Triple H then proceeded kicking his ass. Later in the evening Linda McMahon came to the ring to make an announcement. Linda stated that she was sick and tired of what was going on in the World Wrestling Federation. She then stated that she noticed The Rock probably had no chance against Triple H at Backlash, especially after what happened to Y2J earlier in the evening. Linda noticed that the odds were stacked against The Rock so she announced that Stone Cold Steve Austin would be in The Rock's corner at Backlash. Stephanie then came to the ring and told her mother that she would give her one chance to change her mind. Linda declined. She then slapped her daughter in self defense. A shocked Stephanie then ordered her husband to get Linda. Triple H then attempted to Pedigree Linda. All hell then broke loose when Shane attacked Triple H, stopping the Champion's attack on his mother. Not quite sure what was going on, Stephanie then slapped both Triple H and Shane. 06/12/00 Monday Night Raw Linda told her daughter that she would defend the Federation Women's Championship against Lita - and if any member of the Faction were to interfere, Stephanie would forfeit the belt to Lita! In the DX locker room, Stephanie asked Triple H what she was going to do in her title defense. Triple H said he just didn't know. Her match was up next, and Lita was fired up. After being tossed around the ring and being knocked to the floor, Stephanie feigned a knee injury which drew the referee's attention. With the ref occupied, Kurt Angle made his way to the ring and delivered an Olympic Slam to Lita, which allowed Stephanie to get back in the ring and score the pinfall. Stephanie and Angle celebrated after the match, even hugging three times as Triple H watched on. [wwf.com] For Pics - Click Here.
09/27/2000 Internet News NEW YORK (Variety) - In one of the highest sums paid an actor in his first starring role, Universal has closed a $5.5 million deal with World Wrestling Federation champ the Rock (aka Dwayne Johnson) to play the title role in ''The Scorpion King.'' Shooting on the PG-13 film begins in mid-March. The deal is "pay or play," meaning the Rock gets paid even if the movie doesn't go ahead.
WWF CEO Linda McMahon, who is Vince McMahon's wife, said the WWF will be lending its full promotional support to Universal for the film. That clout shouldn't be underrated, as evidenced by a recent WWF-sponsored voter registration drive that resulted in 105,000 registrants.
"The production of television films and theatrical features is part of the total game plan of this media company, but we want to walk before we run," said Linda McMahon. "This is an excellent way for us to break in, and for the Rock to establish his star power." The WWF will be squarely involved in marketing, as well as the expected merchandising blitz that will surround the film. [Michael Fleming, Reuters/Variety]
09/29/00 Internet News PTC Lays the Smackdown on the WWF and Scores Another Victory for American Families - ConAgra Drops Ads from WWF Smackdown! Just One Day After the WWF Blames the PTC for Revenue Losses
The World Wrestling Federation was dealt a major blow on Thursday when food giant ConAgra announced it would stop advertising on WWF Smackdown!, a violent and sexually explicit television program viewed by over three million children each week. ConAgra's decision came just a day after World Wrestling Federation Entertainment (WWFE) stock dropped 35% because of the expected revenue losses resulting from advertiser defections.
On Thursday, PTC executive director Mark Honig addressed those assembled at ConAgra's shareholders' meeting and illustrated exactly what kind of trash the company was supporting with its ad dollars. Before the meeting was finished, Tim McMahon, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, announced that ConAgra would immediately cease buying ad time on the program. Ads for ConAgra products such as Slim Jim have appeared more than 80 times during WWF Smackdown! since it debuted in August 1999.
"I am pleased that ConAgra has responded favorably to our request -- joining the ranks of over thirty-seven corporate giants who refuse to sponsor WWF Smackdown!," said Honig in a statement. "This decision by ConAgra defines the essence of corporate responsibility."
The setback came just a day after the WWFE share price dropped "35 percent in after hours trading Wednesday after the pro wrestling troupe said its revenue from core businesses for the remainder of its fiscal year would be about 3 percent below previous expectations," according to Reuters. Online financial source BridgeNews reports that WWF CEO Linda McMahon blamed the Parents Television Council for the company's financial woes. In a conference call with investors and analysts Wednesday, McMahon cited the PTC's on-going letter-writing campaign to the CEOs of companies that advertise on Smackdown! as the reason for the anticipated loss of ad revenue. McMahon also called the PTC "a self-appointed TV watchdog group that's really a right-wing political activist organization," and said the WWF was considering legal action against the PTC.
In a statement released Friday morning, PTC chairman L. Brent Bozell III said, "As the chairman of the PTC, I claim full responsibility for an educational campaign that tells the truth about Smackdown!'s raw sexual content and violent programming that is marketed directly to the children of our nation. Vince and Linda McMahon can malign the PTC and me personally all they want. They can make all the legal threats against our organization they wish. And their supporters can continue their death threats against us....The fact that yesterday we convinced [ConAgra] to pull [its] ad dollars from Smackdown! shows that we are not going to let the McMahons intimidate us with threats." 10/25/00 Internet News World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Inc. has held talks with Time Warner Inc.'s World Championship Wrestling about buying the rival business, WWF Chief Executive Linda McMahon said. ``We have certainly talked to the folks at WCW,'' McMahon said in a Bloomberg Television interview. ``There is not a closed deal on the table yet, but we have looked into it and are continuing to.'' McMahon's comments came after the trade publication Electronic Media reported earlier this week that the WWF is in talks to buy WCW. After a purchase, Stamford, Connecticut-based WWF would keep the WCW in business and pit the two organizations against each other in special pay-per-view TV events, Electronic Media said, citing sources familiar with the talks. [Bloomberg] Linda also confirmed the WWF - WCW talks on CNBC by saying that "brand development is our goal" and that the WWF is "always looking for a good deal". She also went on to saying that a deal would be "good for both sides".
The PTC just recently made some comments about the WWF's possible purchase of WCW by saying that Vince McMahon will run two separate companies to make double the money he makes now on the WWF. It seems that they are afraid of the possible wrestling monopoly that the WWF could become. [Vinnie M Of Showtime Wrestling]
11/07/00 Internet News Linda McMahon addressed Broadcasting and Cable and told them that the WWF was not buying the WCW. It appears as though certain elements that would have needed to take place for it happen did not occur. [Rob Allegra]
12/07/2000 Thursday Smackdown Confined to a wheelchair after being attacked on RAW, Vince McMahon made his way to ringside, accompanied by Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco. Mr. McMahon said that Monday should have been a glorious night when he delivered the "State of the WWF" address, but instead it was a nightmarish hell after he was humiliated by Stone Cold, The Rock, the Undertaker, and Commissioner Foley. Mr. McMahon said that things like that shouldn't happen to him -- because he was a billionaire who could buy and sell everyone in the arena! He then demanded respect for all his accomplishments. He said he was violated on RAW, but he promised it would never happen again in fact, he guaranteed that would never happen again. Mr. McMahon said it would have never happened to begin with if not for Commissioner Foley. That brought the commish to the ring -- and Mr. McMahon promised to beat him up in the middle of Madison Square Garden! Foley said that the one exception he would make to his retirement would be to face Vince. Foley then brought out the person who hired him -- Vince's wife, Linda McMahon! Linda said she respected Vince's opinion about the Hell in a Cell match, but she also respected Mick's. She said she knew Mick would become the most popular commissioner in Federation history. Mick said if anyone in the Hell in a Cell match were to be seriously injured, he would resign as commissioner. Mick then told Vince that maybe they would face off one day, but until then, Vince should have a nice day! But it wasn't over yet. Mr. McMahon grabbed the microphone and addressed his wife. He said he couldn't believe that after what he went through on Monday, his wife would support Foley. Mr. McMahon said he had given his life to Federation fans and to his family and to his marriage, but he couldn't take any more. Vince was irate -- to hell with Federation fans, to hell with his family and to hell with his marriage! Vince then told Linda he wanted a divorce, and he demanded that Linda get out of his ring and out of his life! He said she was never good enough for him anyway -- because he was Vince McMahon, dammit! During the break, Linda left Madison Square Garden in tears. [wwf.com]
12/14/00 Thursday Smackdown As SmackDown! went on the air from Little Rock, Arkansas, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley went into Commissioner Mick Foley's office. Stephanie said she didn't want to talk about her husband, she wanted to talk about her mother -- the woman who put Mick in power. She said her mother had been distraught ever since Vince asked her for a divorce last Thursday. Mick said he couldn't help but feel slightly responsible -- and Stephanie said he was definitely a little bit responsible, since he kept egging Vince on. Stephanie told Mick that Vince took that frustration out on Linda. She then asked the commissioner to take it easy on her father for a week or two, and Mick promised he would lighten up, out of respect for Linda. In his locker room, Mr. McMahon was on the phone with a member of his legal team. Vince instructed the attorney to deliver legal papers to his wife every hour on the hour, seven days a week! He then checked with his attorney to make sure that Linda couldn't touch his off-shore accounts! Mr. McMahon hung up the phone when Stephanie entered his locker room. Although Stephanie said there was information about Linda that she told Vince he didn't know, Vince said he wouldn't discuss the divorce with her -- not tonight, not any night. Stephanie then went back to Vince's locker room and said that he needed to know something -- that Linda was really sick. Stephanie said that Linda had lost a great deal of weight in the past week -- and Vince said that she could stand to lose a few pounds. Stephanie said that Linda was so weak that she could barely talk to her -- which Vince also said was a good thing, since all she did was talk all the years they were together! Stephanie then said that all Linda could do was lie in bed motionless -- and Vince said that rings a bell too! Stephanie told her dad that sometimes he was really disgusting. Backstage, Stephanie again went to her father's locker room and demanded he discuss the divorce with her. She said that the future of the business, the future of their family, and even Linda's health were at stake. She asked him to please go home and discuss the matter with Linda. Vince said he would never go home, and then slammed the door in his daughter's face! Stephanie then thought for a moment, and said that if Vince wouldn't discuss the matter in private, then maybe he would so do in public! Stephanie then walked down to the ring, and in the middle of the ring, she again demanded her father's attention. She said she wasn't leaving until her father came out, because she wanted to save his and Linda's marriage. Gerald Brisco went to Vince's locker room and told him what was going on, and the chairman then met his daughter in the ring. Stephanie apologized for calling him out, and then asked Vince why he would ask for a divorce just because Linda made a business decision by siding with Commissioner Foley. Stephanie told Vince that he had a fairytale marriage, and asked him to reconsider, because Linda loved him. Mr. McMahon then gave his daughter a history lesson about his mother. He said that Linda used to live on the other side of the tracks -- the poor section of town. He said that Linda's family never lived up to his. He said he was attracted to Linda because she had a certain "reputation." He said they had a "really good time" on the very first date in the backseat of Linda's 1969 Chevy Impala! Vince then said that Linda didn't love him -- she loved his money! Vince then said that he was starting to look at Stephanie in a different light. He said she had her mother's eyes, her mother's hair, her mother's potty mouth and her mother's sour scent. As Stephanie cried in front of him, Vince said that she used to be daddy's little girl, but now she was just like her mother -- a couple of spoiled, ungrateful, rich bitches! Vince then told Stephanie the same thing he told Linda -- to get out of his life and stay out! As Stephanie ran back to the locker room, Vince told Stephanie to give Linda a message -- that there would soon be a new Mrs. McMahon, a voluptuous woman who could keep up with his sexual prowess! He also promised that the new Mrs. McMahon would be about Stephanie's age! Stephanie then ran back to the locker room, and Vince demanded that Patterson and Brisco open the ring ropes for him -- but the stooges just walked away! During the commercial break, Patterson and Brisco were escorting Stephanie from the arena when Vince stopped them and asked where they thought they were going. The stooges just looked at him in disgust and left the arena. [wwf.com]
12/14/2000 Internet News Miami Herald columnist John Dorschner did a story about Vince and Linda McMahon that basically details their respective roles within the WWF. The interesting part about the article is that it discussed Vince and Linda's salaries for last year. Vince earned $2.2 million as chairman of the WWF, plus he owns 56 million shares of WWF stock, while Linda took home $1.6 million as CEO.
12/18/00 Monday Night Raw Opening the evening, Stephanie and Vince had a few words with one another. "Dad, I came here to tell you what I think of you. Last week I called you disgusting. But after what I've just seen, that description doesn't quite fit. After showing this video, after divorcing Mom, dragging her reputation through the gutter, your actions show me just how sick you really are. You say you have a heavy heart, you have a diseased heart. Mom is a classy, well respected woman, and the way you've treated her is degrading, deplorable, and downright revolting. You said I'm not Daddy's little girl anymore, and I'm proud that I'm more like my mother. Because when it comes down to it, Dad, you're just a mean old bastard." The crowd cheered Stephanie. An irate Vince then informed Stephanie that the only reason he married Linda was because she was pregnant with Shane. A crying Stephanie left the arena and got into her limo. During the last match of the evening, Vince McMahon and Kurt Angle pounded on Mick Foley who had booked the match between the two, Stephanie ran to the ring with a piece of paper in her hand. She implored them to stop beating on Mick Foley. She had something that could change his life forever. She had documents from the Board of Directors that could change face of the WWF forever. "These papers state that since the CEO has been deemed mentally incompetent, the Board had no other option than to grant full power and authority . . . to my Dad." Stephanie was in on this, too. "Congratulations, Daddy, its official." "That's my baby girl," said Vince proudly. [Mallory Mahling - Torch Team Correspondent, OWOW]
12/21/00 Thursday Smackdown Hand in hand, Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley headed to the ring as SmackDown! kicked off from Charlotte, N.C. Mr. McMahon said he had a confession to make -- that he wasn't a role model. He said it wasn't right to drive your wife to a nervous breakdown, or to fire a legendary performer at Christmastime -- but it was all right for him, because he is Vince McMahon! He said he owed everything to himself and to his little girl, Stephanie. Stephanie thanked her father for giving her master genetics, and the ability to find weaknesses in people. Stephanie said that her mom would never be the businessperson that her father was, because Linda had a heart. Stephanie said she loved her mother, but her mom just wasn't the right person for the job. As the crowd chanted for former Commissioner Mick Foley, Stephanie reminded the crowd that the former Federation Champion was fired. Stephanie said that her father had always treated Federation Superstars fairly, unlike Foley. She talked about how Foley forced her husband, Triple H, to compete in a Hell in the Cell match when he wasn't medically cleared to do so -- and now the Game was in traction. She said that Federation Superstars and fans were better off with her father in control. [wwf.com]
