Linda Miles (real name) came into Tough Enough with an impressive athletic resume. Born in September 1976, the 23-year-old Cincinnati native played Division I college basketball for Rutgers and later tried out for a spot in the WNBA. Miles ranks ninth for career rebounds at Rutgers with 751 and is tied with former teammate Tammy Sutton-Brown for the school record of games played in a career (130). Miles averaged 7.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game over her career from 1997 to 2001 and helped lead Rutgers to the 2000 Final Four. She graduated with a degree in communications and signed a free-agent contract with the WNBA's Seattle Storm, but was cut after three weeks.

Linda Miles earned a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment when she was crowned one of two champions of "Tough Enough 2." There was some controversy over this decision, since one male and one female winner were supposed to be picked. Instead Linda and Jackie Gayda were both picked, much to the dismay, shock, and surprise of the male competitors who had worked just as hard.

"This was a goal of mine for a long time," the former Rutgers University women's basketball standout said in the show's season-finale, broadcast live on MTV from The World restaurant in Times Square. "It's just a tribute to hard work and dedication." "I was really shocked," she told MTV. "I mean, if you could blow up I would have blown up. I was really shocked."

After winning the contest Linda & Jackie were immediately put on TV (June 4, 2002), unlike Nidia, the previous year's Tough Enough winner . Not long after, partially due to a bad televised match that Jackie had with Trish in tag team competition, both women were pulled off TV & sent to the OVW for further training. Jackie debuted rather quickly in OVW, which had everyone wondering where Linda was. Linda answered the question one night while sitting in the crowd and then attacking Jackie on the way to ringside!

On June 12th 2003 (almost one year to the day), Linda Miles re-debuted with the Basham Brothers. Looking hard core, with her riding crop and black leather, it was obvious that this tag team had a no nonsense valet working for them (or working on them)!

Shaniqua tried to lift Scotty off the mat but Scotty grabbed Shaniqua by the throat and started choking her until she nailed him with a clubbing blow to the back to knock him down. Scotty and Rikishi dragged Shaniqua to the corner for the banzai but when Rikishi went to the second rope, the Bashams pulled him down to the mat. Shaniqua then covered Rikishi but only got a two count.

02/27/04 Internet Rumor
In an update on Linda Miles (Shaniqua), she has also been sent back down to OVW to work on her ring skills and attitude. She was written out of storylines after No Way Out when she was given the Banzai Drop by Rikishi, costing the Basham Brothers their chance to regain the WWE Tag Team Championships. It has been said that Miles has had a cocky attitude as of late, so this is probably a good thing, to teach her the ways of the business. It is being said that when she does make her comeback she will be part of the RAW roster, challenging for the Women's Championship. [Carl Walsh, PowerWrestling.com]

----- Linda Miles continues to receive heat backstage for her general attitude towards wrestling. WWE officials want her to move from being a valent to more of a wrestler, but reportedly she doesn’t take the wrestling aspect of the business seriously. A couple weeks ago, she no-showed a training session and was fined and then got angry saying she didn’t make enough money to be able to afford the penalty. [Rajah, RajahWWF.com]

07/02/04 Internet News
Former Tough Enough winner Linda Miles (Shaniqua), the former manager of the Basham Brother’s on Smackdown was recently sent down to OVW so that she could receive a little more seasoning. However, since being sent down she has butted heads with OVW’s Jim Cornette.

Miles & Cornette were involved in a shouting match last week after Miles reportedly "called a horrible" match with Jillian Hall at OVW’s TV Taping. The blame of course fell squarely on Miles who then tried to place the blame on other excuses which Cornette would not accept.

Miles ended off being pulled from all the OVW house shows this past weekend and her scheduled match against Victoria at OVW’s big Six Flags event was canceled. Miles did return to train this week, but shortly after she arrived she left again. Much of the WWE talent is unhappy with Miles, since she "won" her WWE contract and does not appreciate it. WebMaster's Note: For those of you that don't know, the OVW is Ohio Valley Wrestling and is basically the "minors" for the WWE.

World Wrestling Entertainment has released Tough Enough 2 winner Linda Miles, who appeared on Smackdown as Shaniqua.
