Born Nidia Guenard, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on March 12, 1979, Nidia became the first female winner of the MTV/WWF Tough Enough competition in 2001. During the initial tryouts she competed against 4,000 contestants to become one of thirteen people to begin training, then stacked up against 5 other women Nidia came out on top! Making her debut in the WWF in October 2001, she appeared for a few shows before disappearing. During her absence from TV she was working in the OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling - the WWF/E minors) even though her counterpart (the male winner of Tough Enough I - Maven) was making a big sensation in the WWF. Finally after months (June 2002) of nothing but rumors, including the fact that Nidia was unhappy about being relegated to the minors so long, she made her second debut. Appearing backstage with The Hurricane and alluding to some prior relationship, she made it clear to him that she was upset that he had dumped her. By keeping him distracted she allowed Jamie Knoble to jump The Hurricane.
After Jamie had his pleasure stomping Hurricane, Nidia told Hurricane to meet her new boyfriend who would take his Cruiserweight Championship Title away. It appeared that she was right, since less than one month later Jamie Knoble did win the belt (with Nidia's aid by cheating) at the King Of The Ring PPV. Quickly the couple became known as "white trash", since Jamie referred more than once to their lifestyle and their "trailer park" existence. Nidia and Jamie became the most hated couple in the WWE! The next big move for the proverbially gum chewing young lady was being included in the Divas "Undressed" broadcast in June 2002, where she held her own even though she was in competition with the likes of Terri, Torrie and Trish Stratus. Although she appeared totally uncomfortable in high heel shoes, she definitely presented herself well and looked fine, parading around in her lingerie and costumes onstage.
In October 2003 Nidia was "blinded" by Tajiri during a match between Tajiri and Noble, after which Tajiri spewed his "black mist" onto her face. Storyline-wise, this encounter resulted in a physical 'injury' to Nidia. Nidia started appearing at ringside with sunglasses on, to 'sell' the after effects of her (post-Tajiri attack) 'injuries'. During this time, Noble would throw Nidia in front of various opponents at a match's climax, to both save himself and let him later accuse them of "hitting a woman", etc. Later in this storyline, Rey Mysterio enlightened Nidia that Noble was 'exploiting' her in the aforementioned manner, resulting in Nidia turning against Noble. The two feuded, culminating in a match at No Way Out 2004 in which Noble had to wear a blindfold. True to character, Noble cheated to win: He removed his blindfold during the match. Nidia was drafted to the Raw Brand in the spring of 2004. She debuted on Raw as a "face", defeating Molly Holly. She then tag-teamed regularly with Stacy Keibler and Victoria against "heels" Trish Stratus, Gail Kim, Molly Holly, and Jazz. Nidia was released from her WWE contract in November 2004 along with several other performers. After being released by WWE, Nidia wrestled in many independent promotions and tours including Kishi's Nu-Wrestling Evolution in Italy and Ultimo Dragon's Toryumon Mexico. |
