Tammy Lynn Sytch at 5'6" and 120 lbs. began her career in 1992 with Jim Cornett in the now defunct Smokey Mountain Wrestling Promotion of Knoxville Tenn. Within the next couple of years the WWF picked her up and

gave her the name of Sunny and her career skyrocketed. Unprepared for the fame and adulation as a 'sex symbol' in that organization she turned to prescription drugs to help her cope. Soon the rumors began that

Sunny was having more and more personal problems which included not making scheduled appearances and she was quietly dismissed in late July of 1998. Just a few days later in August, during an ECW PPV, Tammy shocked the wrestling world as she announced that she was no longer with the WWF and that she was going to be with her fiancée Chris Candido. Those of us who couldn't get ECW were mighty disappointed that we would no longer be able to watch this saucy young lady do her thing.

She was back in wrestling and going to be better than ever. Sadly this was not the case. By December the rumors started flying around that Chris Candido and Tammy were looking for greener pastures in the WCW or going back to the WWF. Over the next several months it was seriously being questioned as to what their

real status was with any of the major organizations. They appeared at the ECW 'Guilty As Charged' PPV in January 1999 as a good feud between Tammy and Francine started up. Even though they were still appearing

on ECW shows the couple were rumored to be negotiating with the WCW and WWF, but no one was signing a contract.

Other problems were being made public as it was reported that Tammy had been arrested for violating a restraining order that her mother had placed on her and that Chris & Tammy had also been suspended from the ECW. For the next several months things were not looking good as the rumors abounded once again that "they were signing here", "no they were going there", "they signed a contract with the WCW", "the deal fell through" etc., etc. Television appearances with the ECW were very spotty. In her TNN ECW interview televised in October 1999 Tammy stated: "When I first left the WWF it was like a whole weight was lifted off my shoulders. I took too much advantage of being able to sit home and not do anything. I felt too relaxed in my environment. Too relaxed to the point where I did take my first drink. My first drink was at home when there were no more pills to make you go to sleep. There were some nights that I was hoping I wouldn't wake up the next morning. It was the worst feeling in the world, the worst feeling in the world, to know that you don't care if you wake up the next morning or not."

October 1999 - The ECW announced that Tammy would be coming back. There were a few conditions placed on the return, but it looks like we might once again get to see Tammy Lynn Sytch at her best. During her ECW TNN interview she ended with this statement: "You can talk about your Sable's, you can talk about your Debra's, you've got your Nitro Girls, you've got your Dawn Marie's, but I'm going to set the standard by which every girl in this business is judged. Again. Cause girls, I'm alive and I'm back.

2000 - Another year of problems, 3 wrestling organizations (ECW, XPW, WCW), not much action and a ton of 'rumors' although she did manage Candido to the XPW World Heavyweight Title.

2001, 2002, 2003 - Nothing but rumors and Tammy posing nude with Missy Hyatt over at the now defunct wrestlingvixxens.com pay site. In a interview in 2007, she said that she regretted doing it.

2004 - Tammy announces her retirement from pro wrestling and says that she's going to become a flight attendant.

2005 - Horrible year for Tammy. She was getting really overweight AND had to deal with  the death of her long time boyfriend Chris Candido.

At Lockdown on April 25, he fractured both his tibia and fibula and dislocated his ankle during a steel cage match with Lance Hoyt against Apolo and Sonny Siaki. He underwent surgery the next day to have steel plates and screws inserted into his leg. Later in the week, Sytch picked Candido up from the airport, and was told he was given only pain medication but no antibiotics, which are normally given after surgery. He was at the following Impact! tapings managing The Naturals. By April 28, 2005, Candido wasn't feeling well and his condition worsened during the day. He collapsed in the evening and was rushed to the hospital. He was diagnosed with pneumonia. Doctors wanted to drain Candido's lungs, but he didn't want to be sedated. The doctors eventually convinced Candido to go under while they drained his lungs. Twenty minutes later, doctors told Sytch that Candido had died. He was 33 years old. According to his brother Johnny, Candido died due to a blood clot, a complication from surgery.

After the death of Candido, it did not take long for Sytch to become regularly involved in the independent circuit again. Sytch made appearances as a referee for NWS Wrestling in May 2005 and attended a Chris Candido Memorial show in June. Also, Sytch was a part of Hardcore Homecoming in June 2005.

During this time period, Sytch appeared at the New Jersey-based NWA Cyberspace promotion. Soon after Sytch's departure from NWA Cyberspace, the New Jersey-based National Wrestling Superstars (NWS) became her new primary wrestling promotion. She appeared on a handful the promotion's shows in the summer, and on June 3, 2006, she managed Lex Luger to victory over Johnny Candido. It was also being noted by fans that Tammy was beginning to head back to her slimmer years and had lost a considerable amount of weight.

Sytch returned to NWA Shockwave (formerly NWA Cyberspace) in 2006 as a featured headliner. On December 1, 2006, Sytch was appointed the new commissioner of NWA Shockwave. Immediately following this announcement, Sytch declared all Shockwave championship titles vacant and informed fans that new Heavyweight and Internet Champions would be crowned.

Tammy made an appearance on the 15th Anniversary of Raw in early December and on December 22, 2007, she won her first championship, the Women Superstarts Uncensored (WSU) Championship.

Sytch, as Sunny, participated at WrestleMania XXV on April 5, 2009 in the 25-Diva battle royal for the crown of "Miss WrestleMania", but lost after being thrown out early on in the match. As a matter of fact we didn't even see her, although the ring side announcers made a passing comment about her being in the ring.

No matter her ups and downs weight-wise or professionally those of us that have followed her as fans for years will always remember her as the first sexy 'diva' in sports entertainment.
