Tammy Lynn Sytch at 5'6" and 120 lbs. began her career in 1992 with Jim Cornett in the now defunct Smokey Mountain Wrestling Promotion of Knoxville Tenn. Within the next couple of years the WWF picked her up and gave her the name of Sunny and her career skyrocketed. Unprepared for the fame and adulation as the 'sex symbol' in that organization she turned to prescription drugs to help her cope. Soon the rumors began that Sunny was having more and more personal problems which included not making scheduled appearances and she was quietly dismissed in late July of 1998. Just a few days later in August, during an ECW PPV, Tammy shocked the wrestling world as she announced that she was no longer with the WWF and that she was going to be with her fiancée Chris Candido. Those of us who couldn't get ECW were mighty disappointed that we would no longer be able to watch this saucy young lady do her thing. She was back in wrestling and going to be better than ever. Sadly this was not the case. By December the rumors started flying around that Chris Candido and Tammy were looking for greener pastures in the WCW or going back to the WWF. Over the next several months it was seriously being questioned as to what their real status was with any of the major organizations. They appeared at the ECW 'Guilty As Charged' PPV in January 1999 as a good feud between Tammy and Francine started up. Even though they were still appearing on ECW shows the couple were rumored to be negotiating with the WCW and WWF, but no one was signing a contract. Other problems were being made public as it was reported that Tammy had been arrested for violating a restraining order that her mother had placed on her and that Chris & October 1999 - The ECW announced that Tammy would be coming back. There were a few conditions placed on the return, but it looks like we might once again get to see Tammy Lynn Sytch at her best. During her ECW TNN interview she ended with this statement: "You can talk about your Sable's, you can talk about your Debra's, you've got your Nitro Girls, you've got your Dawn Marie's, but I'm going to set the standard by which every girl in this business is judged. Again. Cause girls, I'm alive and I'm back. 2000 - Another year of problems, 3 wrestling organizations (ECW, XPW, WCW), not much action and a ton of 'rumors'. 2001, 2002, 2003 - Nothing but rumors and Tammy posing nude with Missy Hyatt over at the now defunct wrestlingvixxens.com pay site. 2004 - Tammy announces her retirement from pro wrestling and says that she's going to become a flight attendant. |
01/05/01 Internet Rumor 02/02/01 Internet News According to EWN Tammy Sytch, last seen in WCW came just inches away from death this past week. Tammy was released from the hospital Friday morning and has worked shows with Chris Candido over the weekend. On a side note Candido and Sytch have signed a one-year deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling that will officially go into effect in the month of March. WebMaster's Note: Good, then she won't give a #@*# about my opinion. Tammy Lynn Sytch could have been one of the "ALL TIME" greats in the world of wrestling Diva's. Instead - whether her choices were consciously made or she was a victim of circumstances like she would like us to believe - she became one of the worst examples in how to maintain and stay on top of the game!! 04/29/05 Internet News
05/06/05 Internet News According to Wrestling-Observer.com, among those who attended the services were Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett, Terry Funk, Howard Finkel, Jeremy Borash, Bob Ryder, Scott D'Amore, Shane Douglas, Billy Gunn, Sonny Siaki, C.M. Punk, Rob Feinstein, Steven DeAngelis, Sandman, Sabu, Terry Taylor, and many others who attended yesterday's wake at the funeral home. Tammy Sytch was described as very strong and smiling most of the time, giving winks and hugs to those who were said. It was reported as a nice touching service with one of the NWA tag team title belts draped over the casket during the mass. TNA offered the belt if the family wanted to bury Candido with it due to his love for wrestling. PowerWrestling.com WrestlingObserver.com 07/19/06 Internet News - Tammy Sytch Appearance and Weight Loss Speaking of Sytch, she's lost a good amount of weight in recent months and she's probably at her lightest weight in several years. Though she's not in "Sunny Shape" quite yet, she's looked noticeably slimmer in her most recent appearances. She looked lighter than usual at an indy show in which she wrestled on last Friday. Also, she was seen wearing a very tight pink miniskirt at a wrestling convention last month. Sytch currently works a desk job at a New York area Gold's Gym. The convenience of her working at a gym has most definitely played a part in her weight loss in recent months. 08/17/07 Internet News - New Web Site 10/23/07 Internet News - ClubWWI Interview One of the most interesting subjects addressed during this no-holds-barred ClubWWI.com shoot was the Bret Hart-Shawn Michaels controversy. One of the biggest moments from that battle included Shawn claiming that Bret was seeing some "Sunny Days" recently. This lead to a huge blowout and all sorts of allegations thrown regarding Hart's relationship with Sytch. James asked Tammy about this and she responded: "Nobody knew this but….Shawn and I had a nine month relationship. As soon as we stopped seeing each other, all of a sudden, for some reason he got in his warped mind that I was seeing Bret Hart. I have no idea where he got this from. Nobody has any idea where he got this from cause I wasn't. Not at all. Bret and I were friends. I think it kinda came about, Bret Hart is a loner. He really does his own thing. The whole lone wolf thing is really him. He doesn't like to be around the boys. So a lot of the times on the road, when I was the only girl on the road, I had my own locker room. Well, Bret had asked me, "Do you mind if I change in your locker room because I really don't want to be around the guys?" I said, "Not at all. It's no big deal." I mean, I'm not in there the whole time anyway, just to change. So basically, my locker room became Bret and Sunny's Locker Room. When I wasn't in there, he was in there. When he wasn't in there, I was in there. It was no big deal. It was understood. He wanted his privacy, he didn't want to be around the guys. Well, a lot of people took that as "Oh, they must be doing something," when it absolutely was not. So Shawn got it in his head that something was going on and that gave him some ammunition against Bret 'cause they actually hated each other." Tammy goes on to say that she wasn't even in the building the day that the "Sunny Days" line was first mentioned by Shawn and was surprised to know her name was involved. She also goes on to talk about Michaels today, whether she's spoken to him since, and more in her ClubWWI.com interview. ClubWWI.com 12/10/07 Monday Night Raw - Bridgeport, Connecticut - Raw 15th Anniversary Show She actually looked in decent shape, considering some of the pictures we have seen in the past few years, still yummy and looking sexy. Throughout the night they played several vignettes of Sunny during her WWF years. It was nice to see her back in the ring, and being described as the first modern era Diva. 12/20/07 Internet News - Sunny WWE.com Video In the video Sunny talks about her return to WWE at the Raw 15th Anniversary show. She said it was "awesome." She said she was so nervous on the way to Raw that she was actually shaking in the car, but as soon as she arrived to Raw, she was cool again. She said it was great to meet a bunch of new people at Raw. A number of the new wrestlers went up to her and gave her a lot of respect. The video then shows exclusive footage of Sunny mingling with new & old stars backstage at the show. The video then talks about Playboy. Sunny said she was the first Diva to be offered to do Playboy, but she was too immature & shy at the time and that it was something she was not ready to do, so she turned it down. She said a few years later she made a decision "to do a website" (in reference to the infamous Wrestling Vixxxens website), but she was not ashamed of it. When she looks back at the Playboy offer, she thinks it was something she maybe should have done at the time because it would have boosted her career, but at the time, she simply wasn't ready. The mood of the video then turns somber as it segues into the "dark days" of Sunny. She notes that some things beyond her control occurred. "Back in 2001 I got very sick. I had pancreatitis and that screws with your entire system. And then back in '05 a certain someone passed away (in reference to longtime boyfriend Chris Candido), and uh, that screws with your system as well. And you know, I put on a couple pounds, I'm gonna admit it. I didn't look like Sunny anymore and yeah, I kind of needed a break from the business all together." To depict the "dark days," the segment displays footage of her in WCW. She said she wants "one last run before she packs it in for good." She said she watches WWE programming sometimes and she sees all these gorgeous girls out there who are doing what she should be doing. She said it "kind of gets under your skin." She said she should be right there with them. She said she was tired of being lazy and that she was going back to the gym so she could "look like me" again. The video closes with her saying "I'm ready to go out there and do my thing and entertain the millions and millions of WWE fans. That's all I want." Rajah.com 12/20/07 Internet News - Sunny Talks About Returning To WWE Full Time Getting Back In Shape: I actually have to give all the credit to my boyfriend. He’s the one who got my butt back in the gym, got my ass in gear, got me back on my old diet. And pretty much got me back into shape, back into “Sunny shape”. And it’s great, because Monday night I’m walking around the show and seeing all my old friends and co-workers, and they were like, “You look like Sunny from 1997. You haven’t changed a bit.” Little do they know it took a lot of work like Sunny again (Laughs). Returning To WWE Full Time: Well, I don’t want to jinx it, I don’t want to say too much, I don’t want to put any false ideas out there. But there were a few very important people that I spent some time with on Monday, so you never know. You never know what can happen in the WWE. And you know my old saying: “What Sunny wants, Sunny gets.” And Sunny wants another contract. (Laughs) So, we’ll see what happens. I’m still good for one more good run on TV and that’s what I’m hoping to get out of this whole thing. So, you never know, we’ll see what happens. But having that little taste of the limelight and a little taste of the crowd going crazy really brought back to my mind where I belong and what I should be doing, and that’s working for the WWE and being on TV again. Beating Her "Demons": I really don’t know exactly what the turning point was. Everything changed in my life almost overnight, and I don’t know. I just became a different person altogether. And one thing led to another and it caused me to get healthy and get back in shape. So, whatever it was that actually changed my life I’m very grateful for.
