04/01/01 Wrestlemania X-Seven PPV Ivory came to the ring alone, as per a stipulation in the match contract that no member of the Right to Censor could be at ringside for the bout. To say that Chyna was pumped for this bout would be an understatement. The Ninth Wonder of the World's temper was almost as hot as her outfit. Her eyes were full of revenge as Ivory begged for mercy. As Chyna turned her back, Ivory nailed Chyna from behind and went right for the neck. The Ninth Wonder of the World seemed to be favoring her neck, but suddenly she got a hold of Ivory's leg and slammed the Women's Champion down! Chyna easily defeated Molly Holly following a powerbomb. [wwf.com] WebMaster's Note: As soon as this match was announced I knew that the end result was a foregone conclusion. It's going to take someone with the ferocity and tenacity of Jacqueline or the speed of Lita to defeat Chyna.

07/06/01 Internet Rumors Chyna and the WWF ended contract renewel negotiations last week and ever since the main question asked is "why?" Time came to talk about a contract renewel as her current contract expires on November 30th and her downside guarantee on the current has been met. Chyna had a very high demand for her new downside guarantee which is in the ballpark of The Rock, Triple H, and Steve Austin's guarantees. The WWF felt Chyna was a major role player, but not in the main-event league as an Austin, Triple H, or Rock. Chyna then gave WWF an ultimatum which lead to the WWF ending negotiations with her. Apparently, Chyna's head has swelled since taking on a more feminine role after he Playboy spread and book tour routes.
The WWF had denied the offer from Playboy about a second shoot with Chyna claiming it was too soon. Her out-of-ring with relationship with Triple H has been over for sometime now and she has filed a lawsuit against former agent Barry Bloom. He is the agent of stars such as Triple H, Goldberg, Jesse Ventura, Kevin Nash, X-Pac, Scott Hall, Chris Jericho, among others. The chance to fallback on going to WCW if WWF refused to meet her demands isn't exsistant which also hurt her.
Chyna has already been removed from the opening of RAW and SmackDown! as well as some of the features such as "Rewind" and "Slam of the Week." Chyna is expected to remain off WWF television until her contract runs up in November which she is then expected to be released. However, some feel there is a strong chance of Chyna lowering her demands, or WWF compromising with her demands sometime down the road. As of now, her status with WWFE isn't good, and is on the verge of being non-exsistant. [Matthew Boone] ----- Currently, Chyna holds the WWF Woman's Championship around her waist, however she has been absent from WWF TV for several weeks. And with her recent contract problems, it doesn't look like she will be returning to TV any time in the future. At this time, the WWF is really unsure what to do with the title and the division. However, right now, it isn't very high on the creative team's priority list, but a decision will need to be made, whether to let the title live on, or retire it yet again. [Chad Brown] WebMaster's Note: The Women's Division hasn't been a priority in forever to the creative team.
07/20/01 Internet Rumor There are plans for a possible tournament to decide who the WWF women's champion will be now that it's obvious Chyna won't be brought back on television to drop the belt. We could see it not only be WWF women participating, but the WCW diva's could be involved as well. If the WWF decides to sign any women for ECW, they would be involved also. [Matthew Boone]
08/17/01 Internet Rumor No firm decision has been made on the status of the Women’s Title, which is dormant since Chyna’s departure. [The Ross Report]
09/07/01 Internet Rumor In a small note, Chyna is still listed as WWF women's champion on wwfsuperstars.com. There's no indication as to the future of the WWF women's title, but it's thought that if the WWF don't get her to drop it before her contract expires (which is also said to be near nigh impossible) the belt would be dropped permanently. There is some concern with this decision however, as this was done before with Alundra Blaze, then brought back later on. If the belt is dropped this time around, it's highly unlikely it will be ever brought back, as the attempt to revitalise the division has totally failed, due to the fact that there is no way that the women in today's game can compete with the pace and intensity of the male's, whilst 5 years ago, it was somewhat of an easier prospect. [Jon Farrer] Both Silver And I Had A Few Choice Things To Say About This Rumor! From Silver's Report 09-07-01 I hope ya'll have your ears plugged, because I'm fixing to go on a serious rant. What this guy is saying is SUCH bullshit! Number one, he has lousy freaking grammar, as you might notice in the second sentence of his post. Number two, he can't freaking spell. And most importantly, the whole damn reason that they made a women's division was so that the women could compete against EACH OTHER for their OWN exclusive title. And the attempt to "revitalize" the women's division did NOT fail because women don't compete on the same level as the males. It failed because 9 times out of 10, any angle that the women were given was dropped before it really had a chance to develop. This guy needs to examine his facts a little more thoroughly before he goes to shooting off his mouth! WebMaster's Additional Note Well said Silver and I have some more to add. If anyone noticed there was starting to be a good fan following for WOW Women Of Wrestling even though their programs were on extremely late at night (at least in our region). I found the wrestling entertaining although the announcer team left something to be desired. The WWF has promised us forever to "ramp up the division" but have never really followed through on their promises. Once again so that they could push their weight around they dropped the ball with Chyna. You build somebody up and imagine this - they want more money. If nothing else, since her contract isn't up yet, let her lose in a match to someone like? - Lita (what an innovative idea). The moron above who stated "as the attempt to revitalise the division has totally failed" apparently works for the WWF because as far as viewers who are really interested in the women are concerned there NEVER HAS BEEN A BIG PUSH TO GET THEM OVER! 'Nough said? |
09/14/01 Internet Rumors There has been a lot of deliberation over the status of the WWF Women's Title, since Chyna's shocking departure from the WWF. The word going around at the moment is that the title will stay dormant until the WWF feel it has more able women competitors to work matches. Jackie, Molly Holly, Lita, and Ivory are the only women right now who can work proper matches on live television, this makes the title to be perceived as somewhat weak as only four competitors can fight for it. It is possible after Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler have been trained to work better matches the title will be brought back by the WWF. [Amish Patel] ----- Recently, many fans have been wondering what will become of the WWF's Women Division. If you can remember, Chyna was the Women's Champion, but, she is no longer on television, and is expected to remain off until her contract expires with the federation. A similar scenario unfolded with Alundra Blayze a few years ago, only, she actually tossed the WWF's Women's Title into a garbage can live on Monday Nitro. As of right now, the Women's Division is going to be "forgotten," until the WWF gathers more female talents. If you looked at it closely, you would notice that Lita, Ivory, Molly, and Jacky are the only four contenders for the title, as Trish is not a wrestler, and Stacy and Torrie are not ready to work full time matches. [Jason Hamil]
10/19/01 Internet Rumors Chyna's WWFE contract ends at the ladder part of this month. At that time, the issue of the Women's title will be addressed. Early reports are stating that the WWF has completely dropped the idea of even having a Women's title. [Ryan Clark] ----- The WWF is expected to bring back the Women's championship belt after Chyna's contract runs up in several weeks. The reason we have not seen much of the belt is because Chyna is the current champion. With that, the WWF cannot move on with the division until her contract expires. [Ryan Clark] WebMaster's Note: Nothing like conflicting reports from the same person is there.
11/15/01 Thursday Smackdown William Regal was shown with Ivory and Ivory was asking him if this is really going to happen. Regal said that at Survivor Series, there's going to be a new Women's Champion. Three people from the WWF and three people from the Alliance will go at it in a six pack challenge. Lita, Trish and Jackie will be on the WWF side. On the Alliance side will be Ivory, Mighty Molly and a surprise guest. Ivory tried to get it out of Regal, and then she said that it doesn't matter, because she's going to be the Champion, anyway. Regal told Ivory that they have a match and to go on! [wwf.powerwrestling.com] WebMaster's Note: We really feel that Jacqueline deserves the title, but we're willing to bet that Trish will win the belt. Comments From Silver's 11-16-01 Column: Survivor Series is this weekend and this is the sorriest excuse for a PPV build up I have ever seen. The only thing they are concentrating on is the WWF vs. The Alliance. Which, I will agree, is the main point of the whole thing. But, in case you didn't see Smackdown this week, William Regal told Ivory that there was going to be a 6 person elimination type match for the Women's title at Survivor Series. Mind you, he didn't go out to the ring to say it. He didn't announce it so that everyone could hear. It's not on SurvivorSeries.com yet. He told Ivory this important bit of information in his OFFICE. You may be thinking to yourself, "What's the big deal about that, Silver?" Well, the big deal is that they COULD have had a little more build up to the match. They COULD have made the announcement in the ring. They COULD have done a lot of things. But the simple fact is that they didn't. The match was added with no buildup, no excitement, no hype whatsoever. Just... boom - there's a match... just like that. Frankly, I'm disgusted. Not that my teeny weeny opinion matters in the grand scheme of things, but it's mine all the same.

Trish then gave Ivory the Stratusfaction bulldog and then a pin for a three count to win the title! [wwf.powerwrestling.com] For Pics - Click Here. WebMaster's Note: Once again the WWF has opted for beauty over expertise. We did predict that Trish would win over the much more formidable competitor - Jacqueline. Let's hope the WWF has learned from their two previous errors - stripping both Sable and Chyna of the belt after contract negotiations broke down - and they do not build up Trish to "SuperStar" status just to leave the fans disappointed with the final outcome.
