"Miss Kitty" made her debut appearance in the WWF in August 1999 during a Monday Night Raw.  Jeff Jarrett had decided that Debra needed an assistant and Miss Kitty fit the bill to a tee!  "Sex appeal as a distraction is what I've done best."  What a deadly combination Jeff's opponents had to watch out for - The Puppies & The Kitty's!

Once Debra took her leave, Miss Kitty was Jeff's only supporter.  Jeff of course treated her just like every other woman he'd mistreated and finally at the No Mercy PPV in October 1999, Miss Kitty left the ring with Chyna who had just won the Intercontinental belt from Jeff.  The next night on Raw she appeared at Chyna's side looking like a miniature duplicate of Chyna.

At the Armageddon PPV in December 1999 Miss Kitty won the Women's Championship Belt by being the last of 4 competitors to keep her Evening Gown on in a swimming pool match.  During her post-match interview she told the fans that she would now be known as 'The Kat'. "Well I told everyone that I would win this and I did, but I know you came here to see me get naked." After months of waiting to see somebody's 'puppies', fans were treated to a view of Kitty's, but it was only aired on the initial 'live' show and censored on the re-broadcast.

Miss Kitty didn't last very long as the WWF Women's Champion.  Before the end of January 2000 she lost the belt during a Lumber Jill Snow Bunny match on Raw. Jackie, BB, Ivory etc. surrounded the ring as Kat took on an unknown competitor - Hervina.  The match had gotten just underway when Hervina quickly pinned Kat. When Michael Cole interviewed the new champion we discovered that it was Harvey Whippleman dressed in drag.

During the next few months the tiny spitfire entered into a feud with Terri Runnels that eventually led to rumors of possible nudity (remember Kitty had already taken her top off at Armageddon) during their match at Wrestlemania XVI in April. Not only didn't we get nudity but neither woman was a clear cut winner.

On Raw a week later, Terri offered to "bury the hatchet" between the two women by taking Kat to the beauty shop. After having her drink spiked by Terri, Kat awoke to find her hair had been horribly cut and badly colored. Obviously the feud had stepped up to a new level.

Now changing her brilliant hair colors weekly Kat continued waging war, even agreeing to an Arm Wrestling Match in May 2000 at the UK Viewers Only Insurextion PPV. Kitty won the match easily, causing a furious Terri to strike back by ripping Kat's top off, leaving Kat's chest exposed once again to a PPV audience.

The two miniature dynamo's continued making each other's lives miserable in general, until the end of August when Terri escalated things to an even higher level. On Raw Kat was at WWF New York talking to the audience when Terri attacked and gave her a Stink Face! This of course led to the first ever Thong Stink Face Match set for the following Sunday at SummerSlam 2000. Both competitors put on a stellar show but in the end Kat was the victor.

In September Jerry "The King" and Stacy Carter tied the knot in real life, while Kat's antagonism towards Terri mellowed.  This quiet period lasted only a couple of weeks however, as Kat got involved in Eddie Guerrero's problems with "Mamacita" Chyna during a late October Heat show.  On Raw the next evening Kat accompanied Eddie to ringside - dressed like Chyna - for his Intercontinental Title match against Mamacita. During the match while Jerry "The King" and JR described the action they referred to Kat as "Chynette".

Other than a Christmas Day 2000 appearance on Raw  - where she gave JR and Jerry gifts while dressed in a Santa's Hat and matching red bikini - we didn't see her again until February 2001. A month that would change the couple's lives forever.

On the February 1st broadcast of Smackdown! Kat came out to the stage and said she wanted to take "extreme" to a whole new level and that  she would give everyone exactly what they wanted to see -- full frontal nudity! But as Kat began to take off her bikini top the "Right to Censor" group came out and covered her with a towel!

The storyline for Raw on the 19th showed Steven Richards deciding that he had enough of Kat's actions. With Ivory's help Steven drug Kat out to the ring where he berated her publicly.  This infuriated Jerry who got in the ring to defend Kat. Steven said that if Lawler was so supportive of her, he would make him a deal -- if Lawler could beat a Right to Censor member of his choice at No Way Out on the 25th, then Steven would allow Kat to get naked at the Pay-Per-View, but if not, then Kat would belong to them. Lawler agreed.

The match on Sunday night was a disaster. Kitty picked up Ivory's Championship belt and tried to whack Steven, but she missed badly and hit Jerry in the head instead. After pinning Jerry Steven wrapped Kat in a burlap sack and took her away.

The Raw show on Monday the 26th featured Jerry "The King" and the APA against members of the Right To Censor who had brought Kat to ringside with them.  Although Jerry and APA won the match, their desired goal of taking Kat back were foiled as the Right To Censor escaped backstage with her. Things were definitely "heating up."

The "shocker" came on the 27th with an announcement on Jerry's web site stating:

Stacy was released by the WWF this afternoon. In protest, Jerry Lawler has also parted ways with the WWF. The release came as a total surprise without any provocation whatsoever. As for the speculation that was reported on other websites, there wasn't any disagreement involving an angle.

Within days a further explanation was posted on his site.  The following is part of the posting:

I said, "You wanted to see me JR?" And he said "King, this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to say..."  I was totally confused, and asked him what he meant. He said, "Vince has decided that he doesn’t want to go any further with the Kat’s angle, and subsequently he wants me to give her her release today."

I couldn’t believe my ears..."Why? Did he give you any reason?" I asked, and JR said, "Vince said the writers or ‘creative’ felt Stacy was hard to work with and didn’t have the right attitude and that if she was featured any more and became any bigger she would be impossible to control."

By the March 1st Miss Kitty had been deleted from the WWF Divas site, and fans were demoralized as soon as the pompous, overbearing Paul Heyman took over Jerry's announcing spot. Who knows what happened behind the scenes between Stacy and Jerry, there were new rumors and accusations weekly (see 03/03/01 thru 07/06/01updates on the 2001 Career Updates page.)  Late in July the record was set straight by Jerry "The King " himself  in a statement that said "all possible avenues of a reconciliation with the WWF in the foreseeable future are at an end." By the beginning of August rumors were circulating that Stacy had left Tennessee and moved to Florida.  Before month's end the Kat filed for divorce.

On November 19th, nine months after leaving the WWF, Jerry "The King" made his triumphant return to his "rightful throne" at the WWF announcer's table.  Strangely, in all the months since the "wheels were set in motion" there has not been an official statement from Stacy regarding her dismissal from the WWF or the impending divorce.

She's cute, sexy, and desirable, all rolled into one nice package.  Hopefully Sports Entertainment fans have not seen the last of Miss Stacy Carter.

Late last week Jerry "The King" called into the Opie and Anthony show were he was asked if he's in contact with Kat. He replied that he had not and added that she has a court order preventing him from making any disparaging remarks about her. [owow.com]

-Reports have recently suggested that Jerry "The King" Lawler's divorce with Stacy had taken a turn for the worse. However, Lawler stated otherwise, and had the following to say on the matter:

"There is no progress or movement whatsoever on the divorce. I mentioned the court order on a couple of radio shows just to avoid having to talk about the situation, but the truth is that the court order, which was issued when the divorce proceedings were initiated months ago, was just a formality that was to both of us."

-- Lawler also said the following on the settlement proposal between himself and Stacy:

"I am sending Stacy a settlement proposal today that she can look over and go from there. Stacy and I realize that we both want this over as soon as possible and that sometimes lawyers tend to drag things along for longer than you would like, so we are working on it ourselves." [Amish Patel]
